They devoted a week of their Winter Break volunteering at the family immigration detention center in Dilley, Texas. There, they assisted mothers and children who were detained while going through the asylum process.
They shared their experience on American Immigration Lawyers Association’s Blog – Think Immigration. “Many of us found the invasive interrogatory process sickening. Our “breakthroughs” meant someone had just recounted some of the most harrowing memories. Helpful fact patterns were described as “Dilley good.” We knew these events would be exceptionally difficult to place on timelines, but we knew AOs would be asking for these details in length.” These are the people incorrectly attacked in this horrendous anti-immigrant rhetoric. America, we know we can do better.
